I appreciate you guys doing all of this to see ppl set free. You made reference to roller coaster rides, then Jennifer (i think) said something like "don't let fear make you miss out" referring to being free. It made me laugh, and it made me think. I battle unworthiness, so I'm adopting her quote as a confession lol. I won't let "feelings" of unworthiness cause me to miss out on the awesome ride of freedom! Take Off the Old Clothes
This week in our Forever Free Mentorship sessions, I led us through a teaching that has really been on my heart, rooted in the Forever Free Sprint we are doing right now at Life of Faith Church. I invited everyone to just stop and imagine what life in the garden must have been like for Adam and Eve before sin ever entered the world. Not once did they have to resist a thought of fear, worry, depression, or condemnation. Those things simply had no access. There was no nature inside them predisposed to sin, so those thoughts never even occurred to them.
Then I took it a step further: if that was true of first Adam, what about last Adam? Hebrews chapter one tells us that Jesus is the express image of God, the literal imprint of the Father. Born sinless, holy, and righteous, he lived in that same pure state, which means he did not have to work at forgiveness or talk himself into loving difficult people. It was simply who he was. We see that most clearly in how he treated Judas. He washed his betrayer's feet. He loved him so consistently and so completely that when he announced one of the twelve would betray him, not a single disciple pointed a finger at Judas. None of them could tell. That is the nature of God expressed through a life fully surrendered to love.
Here is where it becomes personal for us. Hebrews says that when Jesus purged our sins, he did not just forgive us. He cleansed us of the sin nature itself, the very thing that introduced fear, anger, shame, and every thought that says we will never be enough. First Corinthians tells us we have the mind of Christ. Galatians 2:20 reminds us that it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives through us. The journey is renewing our minds to what is already true. We were designed for this. Jesus came not just to save us, but to restore us to that original place of freedom and bring us into complete union with himself, so that the love he has for every person becomes the love that flows through us every single day.
